Orange granita with Emergen-C

With my family we can’t really go on vacations this summer anymore, because (as you probably know) in April we went to Chile for the whole month. So, this means that I must organize myself pretty well, because with our two young children in the middle of their summer vacations I have to come up with ways to make their days as entertaining as possible. We are almost in summer, and at least here in Atlanta there’s a very uncomfortable heat, and there are some times in the day that are more appropriate than others for being outdoors, and also sometimes the humidity is so high that it’s almost an obligation to stay hydrated. That’s how this recipe emerged, orange granita, which is more like a vitamin-C granita. And thanks to Emergen-C we can incorporate it as an excellent supplement that will also help us stay healthier.

Moreover, it’s so normal to see rain in this area at this time of the year, in addition to the changes in temperature that we are exposed because of the air conditioning in every place, such as at home, car, stores, etc,  where certain temperatures are maintained. Then you go outside and … bang! the heat again, and we are one more time exposed to a temperature change. Of course, at some point you end up getting used to it and it’s not a problem anymore, but it does cause a need of taking care of oneself just like during winter. In my case, I now need more than ever to stay hydrated, because I recently started an exercise plan and this frozen dessert that is so simple to prepare is an excellent alternative to refresh and recover myself after a workout session, for instance the amount of electrolytes a person loses during exercise may be significant.

My friends loved the recipe too, because they can keep it in the freezer ready to serve and refresh in a healthy way.

You can find Emergen-C at any Walgreens pharmacy. You can also take advantage of the special offer during the month of June 2015, that with every purchase of a 30-count Emergen-C box, you will get a free 1-liter bottle of Dasani water.

Emergen-C was located in the last aisle of the store, where all the general vitamins can be found.

You can also keep the granita prepared the night before if so you desire.
